Setup LDAP Address Book
One of the most common reasons to install a LDAP server is to setup a LDAP address book that your users and customers can use.

This covers how you can setup an address book in SIDVault and use Outlook Express to access the LDAP server and preform the searches on the database.
Creating an Address Book

Before your users can access it you will need to create an address book with entries so they can do searches on. Using sidvault web interface.

http://your.domain.com:6680/

select the 'user interface', then login by clicking on the 'Login' button. once you are logged in you will need to create an entries by clicking on the 'Create' button in the menubar at the top left, and then select 'Person'. Fill out the form and keep creating person accounts as you need to.

Setting up Outlook Express

Open Outlook Express and Select:

Tools --> Accounts

Then select:

Add --> Directory Service...

Enter the LDAP server name/IP address.

The differnent version of OutLook will ask you various questions answer these as neccessary. :-)

Then select the 'Properities' of the created 'Directory Service' and select the 'Advanced Tab', and tick on 'Use Simple Search Filter'.

Doing a Search in Outlook Express

Select: 'Find People' (on icon menu bar at top), change 'Look in' to the Directory Service that was just added. Enter '*' into the 'Name:' field and then click 'Find Now'. If the 'default_dn' is not setup within SIDVault or its not the default DN you wish to search with, then you will need to also fill out Search Base field in the Advanced Tab to the match the base dn you wish to search on.

ie. 'o=Microsoft,c=-,c=netmeeting'
It should then show all the entries in the LDAP DATABASE.
